According to CrowdfundInsider, London based fintech company WineFi announced the completion of a £ 1.5 million (approximately $2 million) seed round of funding, led by British boutique wine group Coterie Holdings, with participation from SFC Capital, Founders Capital, and an angel investment consortium. The new capital will accelerate product development, including enhancing valuation models and real-time market data feeds. It is reported that the company was jointly founded by Oliver Thorpe, former asset manager of Fidelity International and JPMorgan Chase, and Callum Woodcock, dedicated to providing structured high-quality wine investment channels for high net worth clients. In order to improve liquidity and transparency, WineFi has taken a strategic initiative to collaborate with digital asset provider Lympid to segment high-quality wine assets on the blockchain platform.
