Odaily Planet Daily News: Binance founder CZ confirmed in the latest podcast program that his legal team has submitted a pardon application on his behalf to former US President Trump. Previously, Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal reported that CZ was seeking amnesty, but it was denied at the time. CZ stated that part of the reason for applying for amnesty was inspired by Trump's previous pardon of the founder of BitMEX.
Last November, CZ pleaded guilty to violating the Bank Secrecy Law, paid a fine of $50 million, and was sentenced to four months in prison. According to the US Department of Justice, even if granted amnesty, it will not eliminate his money laundering charges, but may allow him to resume his management position at Binance.US.
