Odaily Planet Daily News: According to data from blockchain intelligence platform Arkham, the German government sold 49858 bitcoins in batches through wallet addresses marked as "German Government (BKA)" between June and July 2024, with an average selling price of approximately $57900 and a total cash out of approximately $2.89 billion. These bitcoins were originally seized by the German Federal Criminal Police (BKA) from the operator of the pirated movie website Movie2k. As of May 2025, the price of Bitcoin has risen to over $104700. If the German government holds the currency until now, its market value will reach approximately $5.24 billion, meaning it has missed out on potential returns of approximately $2.35 billion. Arkham founder Miguel Morel stated that the German government's sale method demonstrates a desire to obtain liquidity and may not achieve optimal market execution. (Cointelegraph)
