Foresight News reported that according to Benzinga, Lunar Digital Assets announced the launch of the Litecoin ecosystem's zero knowledge Layer-2 network LitVM, introducing smart contracts to Litecoin, which was born in 2011. This network is built on BitcoinOS and Polygon CDK, and is supported by the Litecoin Foundation. LitVM is an EVM compatible zero knowledge rollup (ZK Rollup) designed to introduce smart contract functionality, cross chain liquidity, and real-world asset (RWA) support. Lunar Digital Assets stated that LitVM will help Litecoin expand into DeFi and Web3 ecosystems, providing on chain use cases such as stablecoin payments and programmable assets (Runes, Lordinals). Litecoin founder Charlie Lee said, "Since the creation of Litecoin in 2011, we have always focused on security and reliability. This Layer 2 network will bring Litecoin into the era of smart contracts without sacrificing these principles. It is reported that LitVM will achieve cross chain liquidity through AgLayer and support time locked assets, trustless asset bridging, and DeFi smart contract deployment. This Layer-2 solves the long-term lack of programmable functionality in Litecoin for developers, providing infrastructure for building native LTC on chain applications.
