The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission officially announced that it has noticed an increasing trend in recent phishing scams involving counterfeit licensed corporations. Scammers deceive customers into clicking on hyperlinks contained in mobile text messages and redirect them to websites similar to licensed corporations' official websites. They then intercept customers' user names, login passwords, and authentication information to enter their accounts with licensed corporations for unauthorized transactions. Therefore, guidelines have been issued to licensed corporations to prevent unauthorized transactions in customers' accounts. If the account login information is disclosed to an unverified website, or if it is found that the account has engaged in unauthorized transactions, the licensed corporation should be contacted as soon as possible and reported to the police.
