The US Department of Justice and Europol have seized the world's largest dark web drug market operated through Monero
According to CryptoSlate, the US Department of Justice and Europol, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies from multiple countries, seized Archetyp Market, the world's largest dark web drug trading platform, on June 11th. The platform specializes in using Monero (XMR) for trading, with an estimated total sales of 250 million euros (approximately 267 million US dollars). During the operation, Spanish police arrested a 30-year-old German suspect in Barcelona and seized assets worth 7.8 million euros, including electronic devices and cryptocurrency, in Germany and Romania. The Dutch police also shut down server infrastructure located in the country. The platform has 612000 user accounts and 3200 suppliers, mainly trading drugs including fentanyl, heroin, etc. Germany and Sweden launched simultaneous raids, searching 20 properties, arresting 7 suspects, and seizing 47 mobile phones and 45 computers.
