FOMC Outlook: The Federal Reserve is expected to remain inactive, with 60% of economists cutting interest rates twice this year
Odaily Planet Daily News: At 2:00 am Beijing time on Thursday, the Federal Reserve will announce its interest rate decision and the latest economic forecast summary (SEP), followed by a press conference by Federal Reserve Chairman Powell at 2:30 am. The market generally expects the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) to keep interest rates unchanged at 4.25% -4.5%. According to the latest Reuters survey, 103 out of 105 surveyed economists expect to keep interest rates unchanged, while 2 expect to cut rates by 25 basis points. In the same survey, 59 out of 105 economists predicted that the Federal Reserve would resume interest rate cuts in the next quarter (possibly in September), while 60% of economists expected two interest rate cuts this year, consistent with the median of the March dot matrix and relatively consistent with money market pricing, which is expected to relax by 46 basis points by the end of the year.
