BlockBeats news, on April 29th, according to CoinDesk, Alex Mashinsky, founder and former CEO of the bankrupt cryptocurrency lending platform Celsius Network, faces the possibility of spending the next 20 years in prison if the sentencing recommendation submitted by the US Department of Justice is adopted by the court.
In the proposal submitted late on Monday, the Department of Justice urged the court to sentence Mashinsky to 20 years in prison, stating that his crime was a "deliberate and carefully planned" fraudulent act that caused nearly $7 billion in customer losses and financial damage to thousands of people.
