According to Cointelegraph, blockchain intelligence firm Arkham stated that the German government missed out on over $2 billion in profits after selling Bitcoin in 2024. A wallet previously labeled as "German Government (BKA)" sold 49858 bitcoins in multiple transactions between June and July 2024, with an average price of $57900 and a total value exceeding $2.89 billion. Arkham data shows that this move has caused the German government to lose over 2.35 billion US dollars. If held until now, the value of these bitcoins would reach 5.24 billion US dollars, as they have risen by over 80% since their inception. Arkham founder Miguel Morel stated that the selling model was rushed, without optimizing market impact and profitability, and was sold at five different exchange prices, seemingly to gain more liquidity.
