According to a report by Golden Finance, Meta Platforms Inc. may face another confrontation with the European Union after a € 200 million ($232 million) fine failed to meet the strict new digital regulations required by the EU for Facebook and Instagram. The European Commission stated that it sent a letter to the social networking giant last week warning that Meta's paid or agreed services, which allow users to enjoy ad free experiences through payment, need further adjustments. If Meta fails to meet the requirements of the teams of EU Competition Commissioner Teresa Ribera and Digital Policy Commissioner Henna Virkkunen, this procedural step may pave the way for the EU to issue a formal warning and ultimately impose periodic fines. In April, Meta was fined for violating the Digital Markets Act for the first time.
