Cloudflare announced a partnership with Visa, Mastercard, and American Express to jointly advance the development of authentication standards for 'agentic commerce.' Cloudflare and Visa have introduced the Trusted Agent Protocol, designed to verify the identity of AI shopping agents based on Web Bot Auth. Mastercard and American Express will also integrate similar technologies to authenticate 'trusted agents' within their respective AI frameworks. This initiative aims to expand the infrastructure for machine-to-machine payments. Previously, Cloudflare launched the NET Dollar stablecoin program and collaborated with Coinbase to establish the x402 Foundation, dedicated to standardizing agent payment protocols. The first batch of participating companies also includes Adyen, Checkout.com, Circle, Fiserv, Microsoft, Nuvei, Shopify, Webflow, and Worldpay.
