On October 26, the U.S. Department of Justice filed an appeal seeking to reinstate the federal ban on Anthropic. The following day, the General Services Administration (GSA) announced an expansion of its partnership with Anthropic, allowing government agencies to use Claude at a 40% discount, on a pay-as-you-go basis with no minimum spending requirement. Currently, approximately 500 U.S. federal, state, and local government organizations use Claude, and usage by federal civilian agencies has increased approximately 20-fold in the past year.
