The Bitcoin get-rich-quick stories have been around for over a decade. Some say it’s a trap specifically targeting Chinese people, but that’s not really the case. Bitcoin was born out of the global cryptography community, and there’s no evidence to suggest it was initially designed to target Chinese investors. In the early days, China was actually a major hub for mining and trading. Regulations only came into play after the risks became clear. What draws people in has never been the technology—it’s the dream of getting rich overnight. Bitcoin has no underlying assets or profits to support its value; its price relies entirely on new money coming in. At its core, it’s just a game of musical chairs. Its anonymity makes it an easy tool for money laundering, and overseas platforms aren’t protected by domestic laws. If they run off with your money or get hacked, the losses are usually on you. Speculation doesn’t create wealth. The profits of a few come from the principal of those who join later. Bull market gains are just numbers on a screen—whether you can cash out depends on whether someone else is willing to buy in. Don’t get swept up by phrases like ‘Don’t miss out!’ The real danger isn’t missing an opportunity; it’s betting your entire life savings on a ship with no guarantees it won’t sink.
