Qureshi pointed out that the relevant patent was only approved at the end of July this year, and NEAR Intents modified the algorithm in September. Qureshi stated that the patent infringement likely only involved about a month, and that the algorithm was originally published in an academic paper licensed under CC BY, which NEAR cited in its implementation.
