A 19-year-old swindled $13 million in Bitcoin, drove luxury cars, and flew in private jets, but only received a 25-month prison sentence! On March 13th of this year, Trenton Johnston, a young Canadian, and his accomplices impersonated Google and Trezor customer service representatives, calling victims and claiming their wallets were under attack. They tricked victims into handing over their wallet access credentials, stealing 185 Bitcoins, worth approximately $13 million—reportedly the victims' entire life savings. After getting the money, he went on a spending spree in Miami, buying a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, a BMW M5 and M4, renting private jets, buying jewelry, and spending his days partying. Even more outrageous, he boasted about his achievement to his accomplices on Signal and even shared his screen on Discord demonstrating how he stole the cryptocurrency. However, just 11 days later, his Rolls-Royce Cullinan was pulled over by police for speeding, ultimately leading to the exposure of the entire scam. On October 26th, the judge sentenced him to 25 months in prison.
