Siberian Power Company plans to sue 400 illegal cryptocurrency miners
Odaily Planet Daily News: Siberian power company Irkutsk Energosbyt has announced that it will prosecute approximately 400 "illegal" cryptocurrency miners and claims that illegal miners in the state have stolen $6.3 million worth of electricity from the grid. The company has filed 2113 lawsuits against individual miners in the past five years, accusing them of "illegal use of electricity for cryptocurrency mining" and is pursuing so-called "gray" miners who "installed mining machines in unplanned locations", most of whom installed them in "garages, private residences, apartment balconies, and garden plots", which could lead to accidents on power lines in Siberia.
