According to Livecoins, Brazilian parliamentarian Eros Biondini has submitted an amendment calling for the deletion of Chapter 5 of temporary measures 1303/2025, which pertains to cryptocurrency taxation, and the repeal of provisions in Law 14754/2023 that deal with capital gains tax on cryptocurrencies. Biondini pointed out that the government's increase in the Financial Transactions Tax (IOF) rate through Decree No. 12499/2025 has exceeded the original intention of tax regulation, and it is expected to collect an additional 20.5 billion to 41 billion reais from 2025 to 2026, increasing the burden on small and micro enterprises and individual operators. He called on the crypto community on social media to pressure Congress, stating that "Brazil could have led the trend, but went against the trend and punished the people seeking value storage. On June 14th, it was announced that Brazil plans to impose a unified tax rate of 17.5% on cryptocurrency profits.
