BlockBeats News: On July 22nd, according to The Block, lawyers for Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm are considering applying for an invalidation of the trial due to questioning the evidence submitted by the government. The defense points out that the victim of the "pig killing plate" fraud summoned by the prosecution may have never used this privacy conscious cryptocurrency mixing tool. As the Storm trial enters its second week, its defense lawyer David Patton opposes the witness's claim that their stolen cryptocurrency was laundered through Tornado Cash. Witness Hanfeng Ling previously testified that she was involved in a "pig killing disk" fraud in 2021 and stated that a cryptocurrency recovery service she used told her that a portion of the funds had flowed into Tornado Cash. However, over the past weekend, Storm's lawyers stated that they were unable to trace Ling's funds that had entered Tornado Cash. Ethereum security expert Taylor Monahan posted on the X platform (formerly Twitter) over the weekend that scammers would never use Tornado Cash. In a series of posts, Monahan elaborated on why she believed the funds did not flow through Tornado Cash.
