[US CFTC Plans to Launch Leveraged Cryptocurrency Spot Trading] Caroline Pham, Acting Chair of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), has confirmed that the agency is in discussions with regulated trading platforms and plans to launch leveraged cryptocurrency spot trading as early as next month. Despite federal government shutdowns due to budget issues hindering policy progress, the plan is still moving forward. Pham has held talks with platforms such as CME, Cboe Futures Exchange, ICE Futures Exchange, Coinbase Derivatives, Kalshi, and Polymarket US to discuss the introduction of cryptocurrency spot trading products featuring margin, leverage, and financing functionalities.
