[Trump Warns Treasury Secretary Besent: Will Consider Replacement if Interest Rate Issue is Not Resolved]
On November 20, during the Saudi-American Investment Forum, Trump discussed Federal Reserve Chairman Powell with U.S. Treasury Secretary Besent, stating that Powell is incompetent, interest rates are too high, and criticizing him for spending $4 billion to construct an office building. Trump demanded that Besent address the interest rate issue, otherwise, he would consider replacing the Treasury Secretary. Besent had previously suggested allowing Powell to serve out his term, while Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick leaned toward dismissing Powell. Powell's term is set to end on May 15, 2026.
