According to Decrypt, senior interrogators of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have been accused of planning one of the country's boldest cryptocurrency thefts - during an investigation into the bankrupt exchange Cryptoland and its CEO Sina Estavi, they embezzled over $21 million worth of cryptocurrency. According to reports, these officials belonging to the intelligence and economic crime department of the Revolutionary Guard transferred tokens from the seized assets of the exchange to their controlled wallets, and then sold these tokens for personal gain under the guise of anti-corruption investigations. According to court documents reviewed by Iran International, two senior officials from the Economic Intelligence Department of the Revolutionary Guard, Mehdi Hajipour and Mehdi Badi, were the masterminds behind the theft. The blockchain evidence in the report indicates that a wallet controlled solely by Hajipour processed BRG tokens worth over $21 million, which is the platform's native token.
