According to Cointelegraph, the co-founder of the bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX, SBF, has been transferred to a federal low security correctional facility in Terminal Island, San Pedro, California. Previously, he was held in Victorville Medium Security Prison, known for its frequent violence, but lawyer Samuel Goldfaden claimed that he was actually placed in a secure area of the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC Brooklyn) in Brooklyn. Terminal Island is located in San Pedro, California and also houses prisoners involved in financial crimes. New York lawyer Aaron Brogan analyzed that SBF was included in the low-risk assessment due to its nonviolent criminal record or as a transfer factor, and its defense of suspected autism was not accepted. Brogan also revealed that the transfer may be related to SBF's unauthorized interview with political commentator Tucker Carlson and subsequent solitary confinement - shortly after the interview, he was transferred to a prison with better conditions and closer proximity to his family. He pointed out that low security prison conditions are usually better, which can reduce the risk of violence and facilitate communication with lawyers, but emphasized that this conclusion still has uncertainty. This transfer does not affect their appeal and pardon application process, but it has raised concerns about the differential treatment of non violent offenders in prison.
