Gemini report: Meme coins become the main entry point for new cryptocurrency users, with 94% of holders further investing in traditional currencies
According to Gemini's latest State of Crypto report, over 30% of new users in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and other regions made their first purchase of cryptocurrency as a meme, and over 94% of meme holders subsequently invested in Bitcoin or Ethereum, demonstrating its importance as a widely adopted gateway. In addition, 39% of investors in the United States have invested in cryptocurrencies through ETFs. Gemini pointed out that memes, driven by cultural factors and low entry barriers, are becoming a "training wheel" for new users to understand wallets, tokens, and ecosystems. At present, the market value of memes has reached 74.2 billion US dollars, accounting for a significant share of the total global cryptocurrency market value.
