According to Cryptonews, Seoul police in South Korea have arrested a Russian man in his 20s in Busan on suspicion of participating in a violent robbery disguised as cryptocurrency trading. On May 21, the criminal gang lured 10 Koreans to a hotel in Jiangxi District of Seoul in the name of P2P transactions. Two of them were threatened with fake pistols, beaten with retractable batons and tied up after being lured to their rooms. The police seized counterfeit firearms, bulletproof vests and other crime tools in the crime room, with a total amount of about 730000 US dollars involved. At least two accomplices have fled the country, and Interpol is involved in the pursuit. The arrested suspect is currently undergoing interrogation and may face serious criminal charges. This case reflects that the security risks of cryptocurrency trading are extending from the digital field to offline violent crimes.
