Foresight News reported that Blockstream CEO Adam Back tweeted that SLH-DSA of FIPS 205 is currently the best candidate for post quantum (PQ) secure signature. Its suggestion is to enhance Bitcoin's defense against quantum computing threats by combining Schnorr Taproot and SLH-DSA tapleaf with a new address format. SLH-DSA is based on SPHINCS+, improved from the Lamport signature in 1979, using a simple and robust hardness assumption, which is superior to other NIST candidate schemes. Users can gradually migrate to the new address format and use Schnorr signatures in the coming years or decades, while preparing for quantum computer threats.
