On June 27th, according to the Daily Telegraph, a Russian woman claiming to be an expert in cryptocurrency was sentenced to 7 years in prison by a Moscow court for planning and implementing a Ponzi scheme within 60 days of 2023 to defraud investors of $23 million (2.2 billion rubles) worth of Bitcoin. The woman's name is Valeria Fedyakina, from Simferopol. She impersonated a legitimate cryptocurrency trader with offices worldwide as "Bitmama" and promised clients that she could use cryptocurrency to transfer funds overseas in order to bypass Western sanctions.
