[UAE Completes First Digital Dirham Government Transaction Test] The UAE government has completed its first nationwide transaction using the central bank digital currency 'Digital Dirham.' The transaction was processed by the Ministry of Finance and the Dubai Department of Finance through the mBridge platform, taking less than two minutes. Ahmed Ali Meftah, Executive Director of the Central Accounts Department at the Ministry of Finance, stated that this pilot aims to test operational readiness and verify technical integration with the UAE Central Bank's systems. The UAE Central Bank previously announced in August 2025 its plan to officially launch the Digital Dirham by the end of the year.
