[Samourai Wallet Co-Founder Calls on Crypto Community to Donate to Cover $2 Million Legal Fees] According to Cointelegraph, Samourai Wallet co-founder Keonne Rodriguez has been sentenced to five years in prison and fined $250,000 for allegedly operating an illegal money transmission business. He is also facing $2 million in legal debt and is calling on the crypto community for donations to help. Rodriguez stated on the X platform that he is 'financially bankrupt,' with lawyers and the U.S. Department of Justice pursuing payments, leaving him with no way out. Rodriguez and co-founder William Lonergan Hill were charged in April 2024 with conspiracy to launder money and operating an unlicensed money transmission business. Initially pleading not guilty, Rodriguez later pleaded guilty in July 2025 to one count of operating an illegal money transmission business.
