Gu Zhongyi: HSBC plans to launch Hong Kong dollar stablecoin in the second half of the year

According to a report by Mobile Payment Network, Gu Zhongyi, General Manager of HSBC Global Custody Products, stated that HSBC has obtained a stablecoin issuer license in Hong Kong and plans to launch a Hong Kong dollar stablecoin as early as the second half of the year, which will be integrated into the investment and payment process of its own app. Gu Zhongyi stated that HSBC also plans to expand its tokenized investment categories and consider launching non Hong Kong dollar denominated stablecoins to optimize cross-border transfer services. In addition, HSBC is exploring the integration of other regulated stablecoins in Hong Kong.
