[Ethereum Community Proposes EIP-8361 to Keep ETH Staking Rate Below 50%] The Ethereum community has submitted the EIP-8361 proposal, aiming to adjust ETH issuance through a decreasing issuance and burn mechanism to keep the staking rate below 50%. The proposal states that the proportion of ETH staked exceeded one-third of the total supply in April 2026. Under this mechanism, a portion of validator rewards is burned in each epoch, with the burn rate increasing as the staking scale grows. When the staking rate reaches 50%, the net staking yield drops to zero. Under the decreasing issuance mechanism, ETH issuance peaks at a staking rate of approximately 20%, with an annual issuance rate of about 0.5%, and drops to zero when the staking rate reaches 50%. Combined with EIP-1559 and the Blob fee burn mechanism, ETH supply may enter a deflationary state more frequently in the future.
