[Publicly Listed Mining Companies Sold 28,000 BTC This Year, Becoming a $1.78 Billion Overlooked Source of Bitcoin Market Selling Pressure] According to Deep Tide TechFlow on August 12, citing a report from CoinDesk, data from Blockware Intelligence shows that publicly listed Bitcoin mining companies collectively held 127,000 BTC at the beginning of the year, which has now decreased to 99,000 BTC. This represents a cumulative sale of approximately 28,000 BTC this year, valued at around $1.78 billion at current prices. Analysts point out that although this selling volume is smaller than the over $4.4 billion net outflows from U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs, the sustained and steady marginal selling pressure often has an underestimated impact on prices, especially in a declining market with weak buying interest. BTC has fallen 27% since the beginning of 2026, underperforming major assets such as the S&P 500. Additionally, due to narrowing mining profits (with the current average production cost of a single BTC around $74,300), more miners are transitioning to focus on AI computing power businesses. Meanwhile, the network-wide mining difficulty has dropped by approximately 18% from its November peak, leading to an approximate 18% increase in mining revenue for remaining miners. The competitive landscape of the industry is undergoing a reshaping.
