Vitalik Buterin: AI may weaken the security of passwords within two years, and it is not recommended to hastily migrate assets

Vitalik Buterin warns in a post that AI accelerated mathematical research may significantly weaken the security of lattice cryptography in the next two years, including technologies such as ML-DSA and fully homomorphic encryption (FHE), and even put ECDSA at risk of premature cracking. The Ethereum Lean roadmap has shifted towards a pure hash signature scheme to reduce dependence on lattice cryptography. Vitalik Buterin suggests prioritizing storing funds at addresses where no transactions have been initiated, but does not recommend hastily migrating assets immediately, and suggests using off chain signature confirmation for multi signature wallets.
