Solana's new consensus protocol Alpenglow will be launched on the mainnet on October 21st
Solana's core development team Anza announced that the new consensus protocol Alpenglow will be launched on Mainnet beta on October 21st at 22:50 (UTC+8). Alpenglow will replace TowerBFT and remove the Proof of History (PoH) mechanism, reducing the final transaction confirmation time to approximately 150 milliseconds, and voting will be moved off chain to free up block space. The protocol has been migrated on the testing and development networks, and has undergone 1500 node simulation tests with a vulnerability bounty of over 25000 SOLs.
