The Solana validator client Agave version 4.4 will optimize transaction execution, automatically adjust storage capacity, simplify block validation, and adjust staking reward calculation. This version will complete the account storage rent reduction plan, lowering the minimum balance per byte required to maintain rent exemption from 6,960 lamports to 696 lamports, a cumulative reduction of 90%. Ghost estimates that approximately 3.08 million SOL (approximately $300 million) will be recoverable on-chain after these adjustments are implemented.
