Binance: The stolen funds came from the company's hot wallet; customer funds were unaffected.
In response to questions about the alleged $6 billion hack, a Binance spokesperson stated that customer funds were unaffected, and the stolen funds originated from the exchange's own hot wallets. Binance explained that most customer funds are held in cold wallets and are only transferred to hot wallets when users withdraw funds. Binance holds a significant portion of its daily operating income in the form of crypto assets, retaining a substantial portion and reinvesting it in business and security, thus enabling it to immediately absorb the loss with its own funds.
