US tech stocks fell as Walleye Capital and Engineers Gate reported losses and layoffs.

--

The decline in US tech stocks has led to losses and layoffs at several hedge funds, including Axebrook, Walleye Capital, Engineers Gate, Lone Pine, some teams under Millennium, Verition, and Samlyn. Walleye Capital, which manages approximately $17 billion in assets, lost 5.9% in October and has dismissed its head of equity long-short strategy, Anil Gondi, and plans to return some capital. Engineers Gate lost 5.5% in October and has laid off its Synthesis equity investment team. The other institutional rumors have not yet been confirmed, and the confirmed losses and team changes do not necessarily indicate fund liquidation.
