Mastercard has been granted two US patents aimed at assessing money laundering risks and protecting transaction privacy before cryptocurrency transfers. Documents published by the US Patent and Trademark Office on November 6 show that Mastercard obtained the patents on November 3. The first technology analyzes the recipient's historical transaction records before a transfer and calculates the increase in the user's risk score after the transaction. The second technology allows transactions to be processed in a private network of authorized nodes, with a central system verifying the balance and deciding whether to allow the transfer, thus protecting transaction privacy and preventing double-spending.
