Starknet states that its account abstraction supports changing the verification logic without altering the address, balance, and history, enabling post-quantum migration without a hard fork. As an Ethereum L2, Starknet still relies on Ethereum and elliptic curve cryptography for settlement, data publishing, and cross-chain bridges. Research into an independent L1 allows for the creation of custom cryptographic schemes and migration timelines. Currently, independent L1 is in the research phase, STRK remains the native token, and there are no plans to issue new tokens. Migration to L1 requires governance voting.
