Tether freezes over $1.5 billion in USDT related to the Binance hack.

Within 30 minutes of the Binance hack on October 29, Tether froze over $1.5 billion in USDT. The FBI determined North Korea was responsible for the attack. As of October 31, 2026, Tether has assisted the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Secret Service, and the FBI in freezing over 3,590 wallets, involving approximately 1.6 billion USDT, with over 7 billion USDT frozen in secondary market addresses.
