Ethereum Discovers Smart Contract Compatibility Risk, Suspends Hoodi Testnet Hard Fork
Ethereum developer Marius van der Wijden stated that security auditing firm ChainSecurity discovered that some projects rely on gas billing invariants that have become invalid due to the failure of EIP-8037 and EIP-8038 proposals in the Glamsterdam upgrade, causing smart contract compatibility issues.
Ethereum core developers have decided to suspend the Hoodi testnet hard fork until the issue is resolved. The development team is collaborating with multiple auditing firms to conduct security checks and is urging smart contract developers to investigate the affected areas to assess whether adjustments to upgrade specifications are necessary.
The Ethereum Foundation is reminding contract developers and auditors to review their projects for reliance on eight gas billing assumptions that will no longer hold true due to changes in gas pricing methods in EIP-8037 and EIP-8038 for Glamsterdam. The Ethereum Foundation has created a code repository providing instructions, examples, and self-check tips. Affected projects can contact the team via email.
The Ethereum Foundation announced on October 23 that it was postponing the Glamsterdam upgrade, originally scheduled for activation on the Hoodi testnet, with a new activation date yet to be determined. Ethereum Foundation researcher Toni Wahrstätter stated on October 26 that the postponement was due to a ChainSecurity report revealing issues with EIP-8037's interaction with some contracts, the impact of which is now largely clear.

According to the PRO main order list, the total transaction data for BTC and ETH main orders in the past 24 hours is as follows:
BTC: Total trading volume reached $1.578 billion, with $904 million in buying and $674 million in selling, resulting in a difference of $230 million.
ETH: Total trading volume reached $1.75 billion, with $1.157 billion in buy orders and $593 million in sell orders, resulting in a difference of $565 million.
Latest data shows that major players are still positioning themselves at key price levels: the net order book difference for BTC is $3.011 billion; the net order book difference for ETH is $2.8 billion. These orders may be withdrawn or filled at any time, and their changes cannot be seen in real time on non-PRO version candlestick charts.
The PRO "Main Force Large Order Tracking" indicator monitors the changes of every large order in real time, helping you determine whether this "wall" is still there.
Note: A positive order book difference indicates that the main players have more limit buy orders than sell orders for this currency pair, and there is active buying support below the current price level; a negative difference indicates the opposite, with selling pressure reserves above.
