Thinking Machines Lab seeks $5 billion in funding at a $40 billion valuation, and releases Inkling 2 Small.

Thinking Machines Lab, founded by former OpenAI CTO Mila Mulatti, is raising $5 billion at a pre-money valuation of $40 billion. The company completed a $2 billion seed round last year at a valuation exceeding $10 billion, but subsequent attempts to raise more funds at a $50 billion valuation failed to reach an agreement. Thinking Machines Lab has released its second-generation model, Inkling 2 Small. This model uses the MoE architecture, has a parameter scale of 594B-A17B, and underwent four phases of pre-training and nine days of joint reinforcement training. (Source: Business Insider)
