Robinhood Chain's daily gas fees skyrocketed to $4.45 million, surpassing the combined total of Ethereum, Solana, and Tron. According to The Defiant, on September 2, Robinhood Chain users paid a staggering $4.45 million in gas fees in a single day, exceeding the combined total of Ethereum, Solana, and Tron. This marks an 82x surge compared to August 22. The main reason for this spike wasn’t a surge in transaction volume but a sharp increase in base fees: while the number of transactions only grew by 36% during the same period, the base fee skyrocketed 23x, climbing from a floor price of 0.02 gwei to 0.4785 gwei—24 times the original floor price. Since August 24, the fees have not returned to their previous low levels. Currently, these fees are being subsidized by Robinhood App through its own wallet, so users have not yet directly borne the costs. However, this subsidy arrangement is set to expire on September 29. This means that once the subsidy ends, active on-chain users will likely face the full brunt of the increased fees directly.
