Trump Media Technology Group has updated its Truth Social platform to connect its digital rewards program with cryptocurrency.
The company announced on Tuesday that Truth Social users who subscribe to its Patriot Package (the paid version of the Truth+ streaming platform) will receive premium features, including "Truth Gems" as part of the upgraded rewards program.
These gems can be earned through activities on the Trump media platform and converted into Crypto.com's native token, Cronos (CRO), using the exchange's wallet infrastructure.
Cointelegraph has contacted Crypto.com for more information, but has not received a response as of the time of publication.
The initiative to integrate CRO marks a shift from the company's earlier statements about exploring the launch of its own utility token.
In April, Trump Media stated it was exploring the launch of a proprietary token and digital wallet to support its Truth+ streaming platform. In a letter to shareholders on April 29, Trump Media CEO Devin Nunes mentioned that the company was looking into introducing a utility token within the Truth digital wallet.
Nunes stated that the token would initially be used to pay subscription fees and applied to other products within the ecosystem. He added that the token would also be part of the rewards program that Trump Media is exploring across its services.
In May, rumors about Truth Social launching a meme coin circulated on social media. However, Truth Social denied plans to launch a meme coin. Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of the U.S. president, stated that these rumors were "baseless."
This is not the first time Trump Media has collaborated with Crypto.com. Earlier this year, the company partnered with the platform to launch an exchange-traded fund (ETF) tracking digital assets and securities, "focused on American manufacturing."
These funds will be launched through Truth.Fi and offered by Crypto.com's brokerage Foris Capital. The ETFs are expected to go live later in 2025, pending regulatory approval.
Trump Media also reached a significant agreement with Crypto.com to acquire 684.4 million CRO tokens, valued at approximately $105 million, as part of a broader $6.4 billion digital asset treasury strategy. These tokens will be acquired through a mix of stock and cash and stored in Crypto.com's institutional custody, which may allow Trump Media to stake them for additional yield.
