A16z co-founder Marc Andreessen stated in the Hoover Institution podcast that the Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E.) is prioritizing the resumption of offline work for federal employees. He pointed out that the current average occupancy rate of federal office buildings in Washington, D.C. is only 25%, and many employees only work in the office for one to two days per month, with some employees only working in the office for two days in two months. Andreessen mentioned that D.O.G.E.'s work focuses on optimizing staffing, reducing government spending, and streamlining regulation, and stated that the team has "very smart ideas" in these areas. He also questioned whether the president has the authority to require federal employees to return to the office and stated that the current prevalence of remote work poses a challenge to work efficiency. Previously, Trump advisors Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy proposed reducing $2 trillion in "government waste". According to relevant reports, only 6% of federal employees regularly work in the office, while Musk pointed out that after deducting security and maintenance personnel, the proportion of full-time employees working in the office may be as low as 1%. Previously, a16z Joint Creation stated that I am a "free volunteer" for DOGE and have turned to support Trump due to the Biden administration's crackdown on cryptocurrency.
