Seven members of a British gang have been sentenced to prison for kidnapping, torturing, and extorting a cryptocurrency investor

On January 31st, according to Cointelegraph, seven members of a British gang were convicted and sentenced to imprisonment for kidnapping, torturing, and extorting a cryptocurrency investor. The victim was repeatedly targeted within a few months, attacked and forced to transfer cryptocurrency worth £ 100000 (approximately $124152). This incident began in January 2023, when the victim was asked by a man at home to transfer cryptocurrency. Due to concerns for their own safety, the victim transferred the funds to gang member Scott Armstrong. Later in the same month, David Povey and another man visited again, this time carrying a knife and forcing the victim to hand over more funds. The victim chose to comply in order to stop the harassment.
