Odaily Planet Daily News: Public Citizen, a US government, corporate, and consumer watchdog, is calling for a federal investigation into whether Trump's launch of the Meme coin violated laws prohibiting gift solicitation, and is concerned about untraceable foreign payments. Public Citizen filed a formal complaint with the Department of Justice and the Office of Government Ethics on Wednesday, alleging that Trump's posts on social media were used to promote the TRUMP token after taking office in January. The Department of Justice, Government Ethics Office, and Public Citizen did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Bartlett Naylor and Craig Holman of Public Citizen wrote in their complaint that Trump appears to be "asking for money without compensation, that is, asking for gifts that are personally beneficial to him. The lawsuit lists several legal issues surrounding Trump's promotion of Meme coin, involving multiple overlapping areas of federal law, constitutional provisions, and ethical standards. (Decrypt)
