Over 100 US federal workers sue Musk and DOGE, demanding data access be cut off
Odaily Planet Daily News: According to a new federal lawsuit filed on Tuesday, over 100 current and former federal workers have sued Musk and his government's Department of Efficiency (DOGE), accusing them of accessing highly sensitive personnel records without proper review or authorization. The lawsuit was filed by 104 staff members and various unions representing government workers in the Southern District of New York. The plaintiff requests that the main human resources agency of the government, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), cut off the access rights of DOGE and its agents. The indictment lists Musk, DOGE, OPM, and current OPM director Charles Ezell as defendants. The lawsuit claims that DOGE's access to OPM records violates the Privacy Act, which prohibits improper access to personal data, including cross federal agency access to personal data. It points out that DOGE's agents were not government employees when they obtained access to the OPM computer network. The lawsuit mentions 19-year-old DOGE employee Edward Coristine, who is reportedly nicknamed "Big Balls" online and was fired from a cybersecurity company for an internal investigation into a data breach during his tenure.
