Ledger assists competitor Trezor in fixing hardware wallet security vulnerabilities
Odaily Planet Daily News: The open-source research department of hardware wallet provider Ledger has discovered security vulnerabilities in the microcontrollers of Trezor Safe 3 and Safe 5 models, which may allow hackers to launch attacks through voltage transients and bypass security checks. Trezor subsequently fixed the vulnerability and confirmed the security of user funds. Charles Guillemet, Chief Technology Officer of Ledger, stated that enhancing ecosystem security is crucial for driving widespread adoption of cryptocurrencies. Trezor has introduced the "Secure Elements" chip in its devices, effectively preventing low-cost hardware attacks, especially voltage transient attacks. Although the vulnerability has been fixed, Trezor emphasizes that network security is not absolute and recommends users to purchase devices from official channels. (Cointelegraph)
