Financial Times: EU to Expand Regulation of Stock and Cryptocurrency Exchanges

Relevant proposals are expected to be presented in December as part of the "Market Integration Package."
In April of this year, stablecoin issuer Tether froze $44.7 million USDT at the request of Bulgarian police. Now, Texas-based Riverstone Consulting has officially filed a lawsuit, accusing Tether of illegally freezing its tokens and causing it to miss significant investment opportunities.
According to the complaint submitted to the Southern District Court of New York, Tether froze assets from eight offline wallets controlled by Riverstone on April 4. The company claims that Tether's freezing of assets based solely on a request from a local Bulgarian police station "has procedural flaws" and did not follow the formal process stipulated by the "Bulgarian International Judicial Assistance Treaty," which requires "information to be exchanged through central authorities and foreign liaison channels." The complaint states that when Riverstone contacted Tether, they were told to communicate directly with the Bulgarian police, who have not responded.
Currently, Tether's stablecoin circulation exceeds $180 billion, and as of September 15, it has cooperated with global law enforcement to freeze $3.2 billion USDT.

Tom Lee's Fund Analyst: Cryptocurrency Has Not Yet Topped
Mark Newton CMT, the technical strategy director at Fundstrat, posted on the X platform stating that he disagrees with the view that cryptocurrency has already peaked, listing five reasons:
- The Elliott Wave structure does not show signs of a peak;
- Monthly DeMark signals have not yet been triggered;
- The MACD indicator turning negative due to sideways consolidation is not decisive;
- The mid-term upward trend since 2022 has not been broken;
- Market sentiment is far from the levels that typically indicate a meaningful market peak.
He added that he is watching for signals confirming that ETH and BTC prices have bottomed.
Deribit APAC Business Head: Current Market Liquidity Is 15%-20% Lower Compared to Pre-"10.11 Crash"
Lin, the APAC business head of Deribit, posted on the X platform stating that current market liquidity is 15%-20% lower compared to before the "10.11 crash." The U.S. stock market is experiencing a volatile earnings season, so most funds have been drawn away. The U.S. stock market is still reaching new highs; as long as it stabilizes, liquidity will spread over, and there will still be market activity by the end of the year, but it is difficult to pull up in the short term, and volatility is not low.
