[Paradigm Reth Client Vulnerability Causes Partial Ethereum Node Disruption] According to Paradigm Chief Technology Officer Georgios Konstantopoulos, a vulnerability occurred in the Ethereum execution layer client Reth at block 2327426, causing nodes relying on this client to experience interruptions. The affected versions include Reth 1.6.0 and 1.4.8. Paradigm has published instructions for restoring nodes on its GitHub page, but the root cause of the vulnerability is still under investigation. Reth, developed by Paradigm, is an Ethereum execution layer client written in Rust, designed to enhance performance and modularity. Current data shows that Reth accounts for only 5.4% of the total Ethereum execution layer clients, so the scope of impact from this vulnerability is limited. Execution layer clients are responsible for processing transactions and state updates, as well as calculating the state root to ensure the integrity of the blockchain's global state. This vulnerability may cause some nodes to fail to validate blocks and synchronize with the network.
